Happy Birthday Aaron!!

Well today is Aaron's 31st birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!
We spent the weekend celebrating since my birthday was Saturday....2 days apart! Aaron baked me a cake on Saturday (first time he made one...) and it turned out really well!! He also gave me flowers! (Thanks for the cute top you got me as well...even though you did not know you got it for me...you did!)
We went to dinner that night at the White Buffalo Club here in Jackson with Anders and Misty! Fabulous food!!!! We spent all day Saturday together which was probably difficult for Aaron considering it is hunting season! :) However...he spent the whole day Sunday hunting and then fishing. I gave him his birthday present early...Sunday so he could use it! I bought him a new fishing net for his drift boat. It came in handy since he caught so many fish!
I decided to decorate the shop office for Aaron's birthday this morning. He was pretty surprised. I also brought in cupcakes for the guys!! They seemed to like them! I think we will probably lay low tonight...at Aaron's request! If I had my way we would be at the bar shooting shots and dancing on tables...but It's his day!! Just kidding...or am I???? Check out the pictures below...just a few.

Tuesday Update...

Hello Everyone!
Not alot new......But since I have noticed we have had a few visitors lately to the blog, I thought I would give an update!
Aaron is still on his quest for his elk! He went hunting on Sunday with his brother and once again he came back empty handed. They were a little bummed out because they saw the "biggest bull ever" but could not hunt it because it was within the National Park...bummer! They actually saw it on their drive back towards town! :) I have been staying pretty busy with work. Since my duties at the shop office have slowed a bit from our summer rush, I am helping out in the mornings at my old office...Grand Teton Property Management. They have recently expanded and taken on more clients so I am helping with the odds and ends. It has been fun so far! I miss everyone there and enjoy working with them! In the afternoons and head into the shop office and do my paperwork. Cleo is a little unhappy with me. She misses our morning walk/run. Once she figures out we have moved it to the early evenings, she might come around! Right now Aaron is her favorite!! Well once things become more exciting, I will write more! HAHA!

Our Family Float Trip on the Snake!

Well as many of you know, Aaron got his new drift boat this last summer when we were at a fundraiser for Trout Unlimited. He was thrilled! He loves to fish, and always wanted a drift boat. So last night we decided to get in a least one more quick float in the Clackacraft! (We are trying to get all our summer activities in before the snow flies!) Aaron, Cleo and I headed down the Snake River just south of our house for a 2 hour float. It was beautiful! The weather was good, and the fishing was fine! Aaron caught two Cutthroat in less than 10 minutes...a little small though! Good thing we catch and release! The scenery was awesome, and I even got a lesson on rowing! It was pretty funny and not as easy as I anticipated! I looked like a drunk rower a few times as I had the boat spinning in circles! Good thing I have a patient husband who thought it was pretty funny! Once I got the hang of it, I was moving! I am including some of the pictures from our float!

Quick Update!

Well we hope everyone is doing well! We are starting to feel the fall weather here! It still amazes me that Labor Day Weekend hits, and boom! Cold weather! Ahhh...the joy of living in the mountains! It is actually a pretty nice day so far though. We are currently in the upper 60's and it is projected to be in the 70's and sunny today!
Aaron and I decided, despite the weather, that we would take the boat out one last time on Jackson Lake for the year, before having it winterized. We went up there for a few hours yesterday. Aaron fished and Cleo and I sat under a blanket! NO SKIING!! A few years ago I think Aaron would have skiied, but now he is a little older and wiser! The water temp was just under 58 degrees.
Aaron went hunting on Saturday. He had no luck this time, and really did not see any elk. Bow season ends on the 15th. so he is trying to go as much as he can. I will keep everyone informed of his progress!
We just want to say congrats to Aaron's sister Amy and her husband Tim!! Tim has been offered a new job with a new company in Texas! They are going to be making the move this fall! We are thrilled for them and the boys!!
Well we hope everyone is having a great start to their September!

Back From Hunting!

Aaron and his brother Anders finally made it back last night about 6:00 from their long journey into the mountains to hunt. Unfortunately, neither got their Elk or Deer. Aaron almost had his Bull Elk, but when he shot his bow, he only had about a 2x2 window and unfortunately just missed the Bull. He was not too happy about that! They estimated that they did about 25 miles of hiking over three days. They hiked into the mountains about 6-8 miles just to set up camp!!! (I secretly think they are a little happy they did not get their Elk because they would have then had to pack it out all the way to the truck!!!) Better luck next time boys!!!

New Blog!!!

Well due to some unforseen technical glitches, I have created a new blog! I will continue to post regularly, but it will now be from our new address!!! Please make sure that you change our new address to www.ackleyfamilyadventures2008.blogspot.com
We hope everyone is doing well and had had a great Labor Day weekend! Aaron is currently hunting in the mountains with his brother. Bow season opened today for Elk and Deer. They left on Saturday morning to hike in and set up camp. They were then going to spend the rest of Saturday and Sunday following the animals so that as soon as the season opened, they were ready!! I will post on Wednesday to let everyone know how they did, and will include pics from the adventure!! I hope they are doing well....it rained alot yesterday and is pretty cool out...currently 52 degrees! Oh the joy of living in the mountains!!!
